About the CBORG AI Portal

The CBORG AI Portal is a suite of AI services, example code and documentation provided by the Berkeley Lab IT Division’s Science IT Group to act as a resource for Berkeley Lab researchers and staff to utilize AI-based technologies including chat, text analysis and summarization, AI-assisted search techniques, RAG (Retreival Augmented Generation), AI-assisted programming, image analysis and more.

The goal of this project is to provide seamless, secure access to the latest AI models including LLMs (large language models), vision and audio models, running on commercial cloud infrastructure, in addition to free-to-use open models running on infrastructure hosted in the IT Division’s data centers at Berkeley Lab.

CBORG is named after the famous chemist and Berkeley researcher, Glenn Seaborg, with a nod to the future of our eventual assimilation by hyper-intelligent AI 😉🤖
